IyunOla Sanyaolu (b.1998) is a graduate of the University of Lagos where she earned her Bachelor’s in painting from the Department of Creative Arts. Her technique involves texturizing with paint residues—a method she fondly refer to as "sculpting with paint." This process encapsulates the essence of shaping and molding paint remnants to add depth and texture to the canvas. 

 

She held her debut solo exhibition While We Roam (2022) Rele Gallery, Los Angeles. In 2021, she was selected as part of the Rele Arts Foundation Young Contemporaries. Select group exhibitions include Its A wRAP (2021), Rele Gallery, Lagos and Reading Abstraction (2021), Rele Gallery, Los Angeles. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself  (2023) Bode Gallery, It's A wRap (2023), Rele Gallery.

 

Iyun has also exhibited in art fairs across the world including The Amory Show (2022). Felix Art Fair (2023). IyunOla Sanyaolu is a 2019/2020 Arts in Medicine (AIM) Fellow. 

 

She lives and works in  Lagos.
