Ayobami Ogungbe (b. 1993) is a visual artist whose work unites photography, weaving and collage techniques in constructing layered compositions that reference design aesthetics and are intimately rooted in the storied realities of his community.
Ogungbe participated in the third edition of the Rele Arts Foundation’s Young Contemporaries Bootcamp and was selected in 2022 as part of the Rele Arts Foundation Young Contemporaries. Select group exhibitions include It’s A wRap (2023) Rele Gallery, Lagos, HOME (2023) Rele Gallery, Lagos, Good Things Come in Threes, (2022), Rele Gallery, Los Angeles, AFRIKA MUSEUM (2020/2021), Berg en Dal, The Netherlands, LUMIX Festival for Young Journalism (2018), Hanover, Germany.
Ogungbe has also exhibited in art fairs across the world including Paris Photo (2023) and Felix Art Fair (2023).
Ogungbe holds a BA in Mass Communication from the University of Benin, Edo state. He lives and works in Lagos.
