Rele Gallery, one of Africa's leading galleries of contemporary art based in Lagos, Nigeria, has announced the opening of its first international space in Los Angeles, CA opening February 1, 2021 coupled with the inaugural group exhibition, Orita Meta - Crossroads. The exhibition features the work of the three Nigerian artists Marcellina Akpojotor, Tonia Nneji and Chidinma Nnoli, whose work surveys the interlocking dialogues between gender, femininity and a desire for self-authorship against the dominant forces at play in both Nigerian and international society. The works highlight underlying issues regarding the marginalization of identity and trauma for Nigerian women.
